Prior to reading this review, I want to remind the readers that this product is a Bottle-In-Bond and should not reflect any positive or negative opinions on Evan Williams products. This opinionated review is my own and the reflection of Embrace the Bourbon.

History – Founded in Lynchburg, TN by Reverend Call and the man who they call Nathan “Nearest” Green the reverends slave. Nathan Helped train the juggernaut Jack Daniels on the process of distilling. Which is still followed today. Uncle Nearest 1856 is Bottled in Shelbyville, TN at the Nearest Green Distillery. The Super-Premium Whiskey from Tennessee Took Home 45 Awards in 2019.

Value – Priced at Total wine & more for $48.99 for the 750L bottle. I would like for it to be a little cheaper but I believe its a fair value for the price due to the quality you get.

Appearance – This is a corked rectangle with a short neck that presents a medium copper colored bourbon whiskey.

Nose – When you pop the cork on this majestic bottle of Uncle Nearest 1856 you will be hit with the sweet smells of caramel, maple and a hint of honey. This produces a very pleasing scent that isn’t hotter than a jalapenos armpit that you would expect from 100 proof.

Palate – This Tennessee premium bourbon whiskey will catch you off guard when it hits you tongue with that oomph of caramel infused with maple and a slight touch of almond. It does not possess that fiery burn from a 100-proof shot. Don’t get me wrong it has burn but its not hotter than a four peckered billy goat if you know what I mean.

Finish – After you downed that first shot or sipped your first drink the finish is a well-off oak, honey and hints of vanilla that lasts its fair share. I was impressed with the finish of this bottle. It has a great finish to put it lightly that all need to experience.

Summary – In summarization of this Uncle Nearest 1856 it’s very clear that Nathan “Nearest” Green found that right recipe all those years ago. I’m glad they have kept his legacy going in the great bottle because many bourbons aren’t scratching the surface on the quality of this bottle.  Below is how I scored this Bottle.
